Ready Player Me’s Full-body XR Avatars Now Support Meta’s Movement SDK
Full-body XR avatars now support Meta Movement SDK and its body, eye, and facial tracking technologies
Earlier this year, we introduced the new Full-body XR avatar body type, featuring a rig optimized for VR and AR applications. These new avatars enabled more lifelike and accurate movements of hands and arms.
Today, in collaboration with Meta's Movement SDK team, we are introducing support for their body, eye, and facial tracking technologies. This collaboration enhances the realism and interactivity of virtual experiences on the Meta Quest platform.
Bringing XR Avatars to Life with Meta Movement SDK
Our Full-body XR avatars are already equipped with support for the Final IK inverse kinematics solution, ensuring that they move naturally and replicate the user’s movements with incredible accuracy. With the Movement SDK, developers can now utilize Meta Quest devices’ full-body tracking capabilities, translating real-world actions into virtual movements with precision. This means avatars can mirror everything from walking and running to complex gestures, offering players a more engaging and interactive experience.
One of the standout features of Meta’s Movement SDK is its sophisticated face and eye-tracking technology. By integrating this into our Full-body XR avatars, we enable developers to create visually accurate and emotionally expressive characters. The face tracking capabilities allow avatars to mimic the user’s facial expressions in real-time, from smiles and frowns to subtle eyebrow raises.
Eye tracking (available on Meta Quest Pro) adds another layer of realism, allowing avatars to maintain eye contact, blink, and convey attention and focus naturally. These features are crucial for creating characters that feel alive, enhancing the connection between players and their avatars.
How to Get Started
Getting started with the Movement SDK integration is straightforward. We’ve provided detailed documentation on our GitHub page, where you’ll find step-by-step instructions on setting up the SDK with Ready Player Me avatars. The guide covers everything from configuring full-body tracking to implementing face and eye tracking in your Unity projects. With these resources, developers can quickly integrate our avatars and start creating more dynamic and immersive experiences.
